3 Months Old

Irelynn is 3 months old today. Here are a few pictures and a video. So far Irelynn just plays in her crib. She is sleeping in the bassinet. Someday we will try the crib.

Bumbo

We tried the Bumbo chair about two weeks ago and it seemed as though Irelynn was still too little for it. Then I noticed the last couple of days she has been pulling her head forward whenever she is in her bouncy seat or car seat so I thought I would try the Bumbo chair again. This time it was perfect. She seemed to love being able to sit up by herself.

Baby Lap Sit

Irelynn and I went to baby lap sit at the library today. It is supposed to be for babies from birth to 18 months. There were just a few kids there. Irelynn was the littlest baby. Everyone was a lot older than her. The baby that was closest in age was 10 months old. Irelynn slept for the first 10 mins and then she woke up and seemed to like watching all older babies crawling and walking around playing. We will probably continue to go but I think it will be more interesting when Irelynn gets a little older.

The End of Maternity Leave

Today is the last day of my maternity leave. The closer and closer it got to it, the more and more I couldn’t stand the thought of leaving my little girl. So last Friday I went into my work and told them I just couldn’t come back to work. It’s a bit scary to quit my job but I don’t want to leave Irelynn and I don’t want to miss anything right now. I know I won’t regret being with her but I would regret missing out on seeing her grow. So I will be a stay at home mom for now. I’m very happy about it. We will see how it goes and hopefully I won’t have to go back to work too soon. I will be doing a few minimal things from home for my job at the City. So that will be nice to still be on the City payroll. If I need to look for another job someday I will still be in their system. For now, I’m so happy that I get to be with Irelynn everyday!

Irelynn was perscribed baby Zantac for her reflux. We'll see in the next few days how it works on her. She doesn't seem to like the taste too much. I tasted it and it was pretty gross.

She also had another bath last night and she just loved it this time! When I washed her hair she was all smiles and cooing. She really liked the head massage. Bath time is alot easier when she isn't screaming:) I love her spiky hair after her baths.

PS

I forgot the most important part! She now weighs 11 lbs 3 ozs and is 22 3/4 inches.

Drs Appointments

Last week Irelynn went to her 2 month check up. She got her first shots. I know it is best they get all their shots but sometimes it just seems like alot! I had talked to the Dr about spreading them out a little but he didn't think that was such a good idea so we got the 3 shots and the rotovirus drink that we were supposed to get. This post is a little delayed because my mom (Nanny) didn't want to know when Irelynn went to get her shots. Irelynn did pretty well. She screamed, of course which made me want to cry. Afterwards she was a little fussy but not too bad. I was waiting for a fever to come along but thankfully it didn't. I'm not looking forward to the next shots though!

Ever since Irelynn was born, she has had this weird little cough/gagging thing. At first I thought all babies must do this same thing or that she has the same throat issues I have (I won't even get into that whole story). Anyway the Dr. said it was probably reflux and that he could order this test to check it out. She had her test done yesterday. She had to drink some chalky stuff and then they took some xrays to see what happened to the chalky stuff. Of course I worry about everything and didn't really want her to have the test done with her drinking some weird chemical and then getting xrays but we finally went ahead with it. Irelynn did not want to drink the chalky stuff. She was screaming because she was hungry and wanted some real milk. (She has been rejecting formula too so its all breastfeeding now). After about 30 mins she finally ate enough for them to do the xrays. I was so happy she finally did it so that we didn't have to go back and try again. The Dr confirmed she does have reflux so now we are waiting to hear from our other Dr to see what she will need to take now. I hear baby Zantac works wonders. In the mean time I'm adjusting to changing my diet...no sodas and spicy foods for me. It's a little hard but worth it for my baby. She is also sleeping elevated a bit. I hope this all makes the cough go away because it scares me!

Cousin Mady

Here is cousin Mady on her first day of First Grade. She is so cute and getting so big! I can't believe she is already in the first grade.
